"Where to find drivers?": Volgograd fleet will receive 50 new buses

Daniil Arefiev has been working as a driver for about four years, the young man has been working in this fleet for a little more than a year. It has easier control, the car itself is much faster, works quieter, drives better, says bus driver Daniil Arefiev. Buses play an important role in Volgograd’s public transport system. Modern technology has a number of advantages. The director of the fleet shows and talks about the design of the bus. The new buses are equipped with a “conductorless” payment system, video cameras in the cabin, a driver’s call system, as well as air conditioners, the GLONASS system. There's a running line in the cabin. It allows passengers to control the route. Equipped with a bus and a special ramp for disabled citizens. “With this ramp, we help people with limited mobility, passengers, get off the bus or get in,” says the bus driver. This transport has already proven itself. A further 50 units will arrive soon. By the end of the year, fifteen large buses and thirty-five medium-capacity buses will be handed over to the municipal enterprise. In recent years, our region has been actively updating its public transport fleet. Preference is given to environmentally friendly models that run on gas engine fuel. “The main advantage of the new buses is that residents of the hero city of Volgograd use this mode of transport. We see that monthly passenger traffic on routes increases due to new rolling stock, so the attraction and purchase of new rolling stock will increase the passenger traffic of the enterprise, explains Artem Lemeshkin, Director of the Metroelectrotrans bus fleet. For the new equipment, the maintenance process is simplified. There are machines and the declared service life. “New is always better, that is understandable. I think five or seven years should walk, depending on the technical condition. Appearance also matters, new and old – it matters a lot. Moreover, in our time, comfort is everything, says TO-2 locksmith Gennady Danilov. Maintenance and operation of new transport require qualified specialists. Currently, there are not enough workers in the company. “It is bus drivers who are urgently needed. It was decided to train drivers of category “D”. We plan on Tuesday to hold a selection commission of those candidates who have already been enrolled in the courses, and within two and a half months we will produce this training, says Natalia Pivovarova, head of the training center of MUP Metroelectrotrans. It's free for job seekers. In case of successful completion of all stages, employment will follow. According to experts, improving the public transport system is necessary for the development of Volgograd. The renewal of the fleet will continue so that residents move around the city quickly and comfortably, according to STRK Volgograd-TRV.
