The Abkhaz opposition will not contest the results of the second round of the presidential election. This was stated by its leader Adgur Ardzinba, who also ran for the post of head of the republic.

In a conversation with journalists, he noted that he respects the choice of the multinational people of Abkhazia. “We do not consider it necessary to challenge the results of the vote. <...> In this sense, there can be no prospects. <...> For the sake of the future of our country, we will not aggravate the situation, Ardzinba said. The second round of elections of the President of Abkhazia was held on March 1. The winner was Badra Gunba, who was voted for by 54.73% of voters (54,954 people). Adgur Ardzinba won 41.54% of the vote.
