Head of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed readiness to start natural gas supplies to the EU countries. He noted that he intends to establish cooperation with European partners.

The Turkmen leader said this in an interview with the government newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan. "Turkmenistan is ready to work closely with European partners on the issue of natural gas supply," he said. At the same time, he noted that one of the possible options for establishing such supplies could be the trans-Caspian route. “We have always advocated establishing a full-fledged energy partnership in the Caspian Sea and laying underwater pipelines in the western direction,” Berdymukhamedov continued. This is the legal right of the country, which is enshrined in the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea. At the same time, Berdimuhamedov also noted Turkmenistan’s interest in launching joint projects in the issue of green energy. So, he drew attention to the power plant under construction in the country, whose capacity will be 1,574 megawatts. “We are also ready to work with European partners in the field of hydrogen energy and the use of regenerative energy sources,” the Turkmen leader concluded. Turkmenistan is among the top 4 world countries in terms of natural gas reserves. Above it are only Russia, Iran and Qatar.
