The nurse, who works in a clinic in the city of Würzelen, was charged with the murder of nine and attempted murder of 34 more patients, the Bild newspaper reported.
According to the prosecution, the 44-year-old nurse administered lethal injections to patients because he wanted peace and quiet on his night shift. The man was arrested in July 2024. He was suspected in 11 attempted murder cases, but the number of possible victims increased during the investigation. To establish all the circumstances, investigators exhumed several bodies in cemeteries. In February, Aachen’s prosecutors charged him with five murders and 25 assassination attempts, but the investigation continued. Subsequently, four more murders and nine assassination attempts were added to the case. Among the victims were not only terminally ill patients, but also those who were preparing to be discharged. Some survivors had to deal with the serious consequences of an overdose. Investigative actions are continuing.
