Murashko: in Russia, the shortage of doctors exceeds 23,000.

According to the minister, the shortage of mid-level medical personnel is 63,550 people. "Regarding the shortage of medical personnel, we announced a figure in the State Duma - 29,407 people. Today we estimate this figure at 23,297 doctors," Murashko said. Murashko added that since the beginning of 2023, the number of doctors in Russia has increased and currently reaches almost 558,000. He noted that this figure has increased from 541,500 people at the beginning of the year, indicating a growth of 39,000 specialists. The minister also pointed out that from 2019 to 2024, the total growth in the number of doctors was about 6,500. He reminded that in 2020, at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of doctors was 557,285, after which it decreased to 541,000. In October 2024, the Headhunter service reported that doctors are among the most deficient professions in Russia. It is indicated that the shortage of specialists in this field corresponds to an active resume index of 1.2.
