š Summary
The party āUnion of Sarah Wagenknecht ā For Reason and Justiceā (BSW) intends to challenge the results of the parliamentary elections using a special procedure carried out through the German Bundestag. This is reported by the newspaper Bild with reference to the representative of the party Christian Posselt.
Bild points out that Sarah Wagenknecht's party plans to initiate a formal audit of the election results. According to information posted on the website of the German Central Election Commission, the initiative to conduct the procedure should be sent to the Bundestag in writing not later than two months after the election. The application will be considered by a special committee, after which the results will be put to a vote in the Bundestag. If the initiator of the inspection is not satisfied with the decision of the parliament, he will be able to file a complaint with the Constitutional Court of Germany. āA correct result can only be obtained through a full recount,ā said party leader Sarah Wagenknecht, who said otherwise the composition of parliament may not reflect votersā real preferences, casting doubt on the foundations of democracy. Earlier, the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany rejected the claims of BSW about the recount of votes in the early elections to the Bundestag, finding their complaints āinadmissibleā. The court rejected requests for a new ballot count due to alleged errors in vote counting. Early elections to the Bundestag were held on February 23. According to the results of early elections, the CDU / CSU bloc won with 28.5%, the Alternative for Germany took second place with 20.8%, and the Social Democratic Party (SPD) received 16.4%. This was the worst result in the history of the German Social Democrats. Sarah Wagenknecht's union was left out of parliament without breaking the five percent barrier.
