"Light of Truth" - an exhibition of paintings by Fedor Sushkov opened in the Zurab Tsereteli Gallery. The picturesque heritage of the Soviet sculptor-monumentalist in Russia is little studied. Most of his paintings are devoted to moral and spiritual themes. In 41, Sushkov went to the front, where he commanded the penalty battalion of the Eighth Panfilov Division. After being seriously wounded, he experienced a mystical vision that formed the basis of his religious views. The master called for the unity of all faiths, the unity of faith and science, in his paintings plots from the Bible and the Koran are presented along with chemical formulas. “As an old man, when our system collapsed, he was finally able to tell in full force what he could not reflect in his sculptural compositions. And for 45 years without taking up the brush, he was a sculptor of monumental art, he began to write. His paintings should not be considered from the point of view of writing, drawing techniques. These are quick sketches of his thoughts, said Anna Nazarova-Sushkova, the granddaughter of Fedor Sushkov.
