The Budget and Financial Markets Committee of the Federation Council proposed to approve a law extending the maternity capital program until the end of 2030.
Parliamentarians gave a recommendation at the meeting on Tuesday. The Federation Council will consider the document on Wednesday, February 26. The bill to extend the maternity capital program was introduced to the State Duma by the Russian government in December 2024. The program is valid until December 31, 2026. Earlier, the Duma passed the bill at a session in both the second and third readings. As of February 1, the size of the maternity capital in Russia was re-indexed: the amount of the benefit was set at 690 thousand rubles for the first child and almost 222 thousand rubles for the second. If a family did not receive a certificate for the first child, upon the birth of the second child, they are entitled to 912 thousand rubles.
