“Izvestia”: in Russia fell demand for laptops, despite the decline in prices

According to sources, sellers are trying to sell the accumulated stocks. In this regard, in January-February 2025, the cost of laptops, primarily premium models, decreased by 10-20%. The main reason is weak demand associated with expensive loans and the fact that it is now more profitable for consumers to invest in a bank deposit. Low sales force sellers to reduce prices in order to somehow sell the goods and vacate warehouses, the lease of which is an additional expense, said Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group. In the spring, when demand traditionally falls, sellers try to stimulate sales through discounts, but this year the situation is more complicated than usual. As explained by the head of the “Laptop” company diHouse Irina Babina, the decline in demand for gadgets at the end of 2024, as well as economic instability and a high key rate led to an even more noticeable drop in prices.
