Renault is unlikely to have good prospects for returning to Russia, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

📝 Summary

Renault is unlikely to have good prospects for returning to Russia, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

“He (Renault Executive Director Luca de Meo – approx. ed.), may not rule out, but it is unlikely that he is shining something,” – quotes Sobyanin TASS. Some production sites of the company were previously located in Moscow. Speaking about a potential return to the Russian market, de Meo said: “When we see a business opportunity, we try to take advantage of it.” In May 2022, the company sold its Russian business and almost 68 percent stake in AvtoVAZ for 2 rubles. At the end of that year, the concern wrote off 2.2 billion euros from the termination of operations in Russia. However, Renault retained the option to refund for six years. On the eve of the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov said that Russia will not meet departed foreign companies “with open arms”, everyone will have to pay for their behavior.
