The arrest of former Russian Deputy Minister of Transport Semenov has been extended until April.

A similar decision has been made regarding the former CEO of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "ZashitaInfoTrans" Vyacheslav Smirnov, reports RIA Novosti citing court information. The investigation deadlines in the case have also been extended until April 26. According to available information, the case involves embezzlement amounting to over 200 million rubles. The events date back to 2012 when the defendant worked as the director of development programs at the ministry. It was previously reported that the former Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Alexey Semenov, who was arrested on charges of fraud, was granted permanent residency in Israel on November 10, 2024. This was the reason why he was remanded in custody. Semenov was under surveillance by FSB officers, who uncovered the embezzlement of budget funds amounting to over 240 million rubles during the implementation of a state contract in 2012. The Federal State Unitary Enterprise "ZashitaInfoTrans" was involved in executing this contract.
