Earlier, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal said that Kiev received from Britain 752 million pounds secured by income from Russian assets. “The transfer by Britain of Russian-owned funds to Ukraine is a gross violation of international law. They will have to return to Russia what is now so generously distributed, — quotes Volodin the website of the state Duma of the Russian Federation. The Chairman of the State Duma stressed that the fact of transferring Russian funds to Ukraine forever undermines confidence in the British financial system. Such an act "destroys the principle of inviolability of property, on which the entire world financial system is based," Volodin said. According to him, now Russia has every reason to respond to the UK in kind and confiscate their property in Russia. The EU is transferring the proceeds from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine. In September, the European Union sent Kiev the first 1.4 billion euros of profit from Russian assets. In November, European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders said that the EU intends to invest 1 billion euros in the development of military production in Ukraine from the second tranche of 1.5 billion euros of expropriated income from Russian assets.
