Bloomberg: US wants to block the resolution of Ukraine against Russia in the UN

According to the agency, the Ukrainian version of the resolution contains a demand “immediately, completely and unconditionally” to withdraw Russian troops from the territory of the Independent. There is no mention of the right of peoples to self-determination enshrined in the UN Charter in the resolution of Kiev. “The United States is trying to block Ukraine’s UN resolution condemning Russia,” the article said. Instead, the administration of US President Donald Trump called on UN members to support its draft document, which is aimed at finding a path to peace between Russia and Ukraine. The resolution does not contain any condemnation of Russia or references to the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Independent. Some interlocutors of the agency noted that Washington’s reluctance to “sink” Moscow took them by surprise. The United States will present a draft resolution on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine to the UN General Assembly on February 24. Russia has amended the document. She added to the phrase “calls for an early end to the conflict” the following words: “including by addressing its root causes”.
