Construction of the sea tourist center is under difficult ice conditions

The appearance of the facility will solve the long-standing problem of the region: more than three thousand motorized small boats are registered in Magadan, but there is no equipped descent to the water. Construction is carried out on the initiative of Sergei Nosov. The government helps with logistics in the delivery of goods. The next pile is set to the place where it will soon be driven to a depth of about 16 meters. The process is complex, requiring precision from the installer and crane operator. The pile is manually docked with the already installed, closing the so-called lock. Surveyor Alexander Glushko adjusts the work and monitors the accuracy. Here, in the Sea of Okhotsk, there are a huge number of features that need to be considered. “The Sea of Okhotsk is a very large difference in elevation. That is, ebb and flow up to four meters. This, of course, introduces certain inconveniences, said Alexander Glushko, surveyor. But the main problem now is the ice. To work in one of the northernmost shipping bays of Russia had to adjust. The ice situation in the Magadan Bay of Nagayev is now difficult. The thickness of the ice in places reaches two meters. So the builders have to literally fight the ice. It presses the mooring wall to the shore, the natural process is resisted using various devices. The project and technological approaches are adjusted during the work. “Plunging the veneer before it is submerged, we have to break the ice constantly. Use additional equipment, additional forces, spend additional time. To damage the ice. Ice is about one and a half to two meters here. There are ices up to four meters, said Dmitry Reznichenko, a master, specialist in construction and installation works. Ice is formed inside the mooring wall. It's melted, water scooped out. And only after a long preparation begin to concrete. Now it goes with internal warming, the volumes are still small. “The ice builds up inside the pipe. And the ice also builds up on the pipe outside. In addition, we bring equipment that destroys the ice. And somewhere the vibration, it turns out from the vibration itself, it falls, said Yegor Karsakov, a pilemaker. At the same time, Magadan ice is an advantage that builders intend to take advantage of. Next winter, a slip will be built here for small ships, motor and inflatable boats. In the summer of 2026, Magadans will be able to use it. "Let's freeze the ice. Because we have a slip down to the sea. And underwater work, we do not foresee. We plan to carry out work in the winter in order to freeze the ice, saw it, rake it out and sink it, said Dmitry Gusev, project manager of JSC GC EKS. A month later, a temporary bridge will be built here, and construction on the water will begin. And in the summer, the pace will increase, taking advantage of every warm day. The harbor for ships will become part of the future Marine tourist center in Magadan Bay of Nagaev. There are plans to build a sea station, an entertainment center, a restaurant and public recreation areas. The berths are built of different capacity and length. A large length of about 200 meters will be able to receive cruise ships. All work is planned to be completed by the summer of 2027.
