The artist masterfully combines the foundations of the Russian academic school, the philosophy of modern art and the Buryat folk traditions to convey the color of nomadic life. A contemporary artist known for his works, which often combine traditional and modern elements. He connects fantasy with real geographical and ethnographic motifs, and uses various means including painting, sculpture and mixed techniques to convey his ideas. Zorikto Dorzhiev’s method is a synthesis of academic tradition and Buryat culture. His images are saturated with national motifs: the theme of the Great Steppe, the spirit of nomadism, asceticism of forms and decorative elaboration of details. A nomad for an artist is a contemplative, a lonely philosopher. Zorikto Dorzhiev’s paintings, graphics and sculptures are kept in famous museums of the country and private collections. The new exhibition project at the New Jerusalem Museum will feature for the first time about 75 works (painting and graphics) created by the artist between 2006 and 2024. With this exhibition, the New Jerusalem Museum aims to draw attention to contemporary art. The curator will be an art critic in the field of history and theory of fine arts Larisa Ivanova. Zorikto Dorzhiev is a modern artist who operates in his works with such postmodern techniques as citation, collage, irony, play. In addition, Dorzhiev’s paintings are understandable and close to a wide audience of viewers, freely combining fantasy with real geographical and ethnographic motifs. Zorikto Dorzhiev’s method is a synthesis of academic tradition and Buryat culture. His images are saturated with national motifs: the theme of the Great Steppe, the spirit of nomadism, asceticism of forms and decorative elaboration of details. The exhibition presents the main themes and cycles of Zorikto Dorjiev’s work and examines the artist’s path from the first iconic series to the emergence of the author’s style “Varja Punk”, combining the high artistic skill of the academic school of painting with the accessibility and brightness of pop culture. Three halls measure the three stages of this path. Special attention in the work of Zorikto is paid to female images. Calm, mysterious and beautiful heroines, performing various life roles: lover, muse, mother, sister, mistress, concubine. Also, visitors to the exhibition will see canvases united by the theme "Children's games are a serious matter." Dynamic, with rich colors and textures, they convey the emotionality of children’s images that make the viewer think about the nature of energy and overcome in the life of a small person. Conceptual art objects “Eternal Life” and “Eternal Battle”, as well as large-scale paintings “Silence” and “Out of Darkness” are more concise, but in this way they fully and directly expressed the artist’s attitude at the time when they were created. The exposition will occupy the exhibition halls of the second floor of the museum. Artists-scenographers build a total installation on the theme of the cosmos and the universe inside a person. The human body is presented as a cell for a million living processes, thoughts, imagination. The main focus is on the work of the artist. The dark color of the walls represents the cosmos, the grid is a person, and the branches and sticks inside the grid are the universe within a person.
