Expert Berezhansky: we need new standards for medical workers in schools

Now the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation wants to introduce a new specialty for work in children's educational institutions. It is planned to revise the number of medical workers. Changes are overdue, according to the expert. According to him, the main problem is that the standards that are now used were introduced about half a century ago. “As far as the medical profession is concerned, we have, first of all, the big problem that all the standards that we are working on now were invented a long time ago, more than 40-50 years ago. For one doctor, for example, if we are talking about a school, there should be 1,000 students – these are large cities, large schools, modern schools. <...> And if you take rural, small schools, remote places, 200-300 people study there. And there is no doctor to arrange, — said Berezhansky. Every school, regardless of the number of students and location, should have its own medical worker. “Schools are spread over a large area. Somewhere the doctor will be, and in another school will not be – this is wrong, said Berezhansky. In addition, according to him, the medical office in each school must be equipped with everything necessary and have a wide range of licenses.
