📝 Summary

The project is dedicated to the work of artists of African origin of the XX century.

The French street art master, known under the pseudonym Shuck One, is creating an installation at the Centre Pompidou for the new exhibition "Black Paris". The exhibition will be one of the last in the Museum of Modern Art before closing for a long restoration. The project will bring together the works of 150 artists of African descent to tell about their impact on the artistic life of the French capital in the second half of the XX century. Their portraits and stories will be combined into a collage that Shaq Wan is working on. The four-by-ten-meter installation is called Regeneration. In our collage, we combine three periods of Paris’ history – the 40s, 50s and 80s – to show how the city changed under the influence of various waves of immigration. The photographs will be supplemented by archival materials – the works of intellectuals, activists, dissidents, who shaped the image of Black Paris, says artist Shaq Ouan.
