GAZ-AA truck restored in Omsk region

The legendary one-and-a-half truck GAZ-AA is being restored in the Omsk region to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The legendary one and a half is restored with a special feeling. “This machine was approaching a great victory. My grandfather died and my uncle died. Here are taken from our military enlistment office, says mechanic Yuri Guseletov. The repair of this one and a half was delayed for several years. Details were collected everywhere: the engine, gearbox, bridges and front spring were purchased from a local collector of retro equipment. And the cabin, the details of which were made for the filming of the television series Ladoga, was brought from Kurgan. “For example, take the pedals. They were actually on the side of some, I don't know, homemade equipment. They cut, digest, polish all this case, adjust it as they should have been at that time, explains Igor Lukin, deputy director for administrative and economic part of the Old Siberian Museum-Reserve. By the way, repairability became one of the trump cards of the Soviet half during the war. From the engineers of the Gorky plant was then required to accelerate the production of machines. And they took it all off. “Remove the front brakes due to metal savings, or something. Then one headlight was left, the doors were removed, made just a tarp cover, so that the wind did not blow away the driver there, says mechanic Yuri Guseletov. Where enemy trucks bogged down, the unpretentious GAZ-AA demonstrated a combat character. It was especially needed on the ice of Lake Ladoga. All 900 days of the blockade was spent with Leningrad front-line driver Mikhail Buldakov. Under the attack of German bombers delivered bread to the besieged city. On the way back he took the children of Leningrad. Hundreds of children sheltered during the war and his small homeland – the Omsk region. Only in the Bolsherechensky district were opened seven orphanages. Stories about the exploits of military drivers are collected in the local museum. There is also an exhibition of retro technology in the open air. Now they are preparing a place for the legendary one and a half. For all the time from 32 years to 49, 985,000 units of various modifications of this machine were produced. The machine that took the whole Great Patriotic War on its shoulders, and, of course, the road of life. And she also participated in the restoration of the national economy of our country before the appearance of the famous truck GAZ-51. This is a monument to all front-line chauffeurs, said Ruslan Permyakov, head of the department of the Old Siberian Museum-Reserve. However, on the pedestal of the Omsk half will not be put. Already on the ninth of May, it, along with other models of equipment of the time of the Great Patriotic War, will be commissioned by the Immortal Regiment.
