“Vedomosti”: taxi drivers complained to the FAS on the prices of “AvtoVAZ”

In its appeal, the NST indicated that the share of AvtoVAZ cars in taxis is constantly growing. Now this figure in the annual inflow of cars for passenger transportation exceeds 50%, which puts carriers in financial dependence on the pricing policy of the manufacturer. At the same time, in 2021-2023, the cost of Lada Granta increased almost 1.6 times, and Lada Vesta - 1.8 times. “The uncontrolled price increase is not justified and economically confirmed, and therefore we believe that the actions of AvtoVAZ infringe on the interests of carriers and cause long-term damage to the taxi industry,” said Natalia Lozinskaya, head of the association. As a result, carriers suffer losses, and small and medium-sized taxi fleets are forced to close, which leads to a reduction in the transportation market. An important factor is the payback of the car. The representative of the service "Maxim" noted that the average life of the passenger car in a taxi is three years. During this time, the car should pay off and make a profit to purchase a new one. At the same time, the current cost of Lada cars allows you to recoup it in the regions in at least 5 years. The representative of AvtoVAZ, in turn, does not believe that the domestic manufacturer is the dominant supplier of cars for taxi fleets. He also told the publication that in 2024, the value of Lada was indexed by only 4.3% – this is half the inflation rate. The NST claim was also commented on in the Ministry of Industry and Trade. They said that the increase in prices for AvtoVAZ products is associated with the return of a number of options designed for the convenience of drivers and passengers.
