During the Nazi occupation for almost 2 months, residents of the North Ossetian ASSR, including the elderly and children, were subjected to sophisticated torture, died under bombardment and shelling, Wehrmacht soldiers dealt with the population with special cruelty. As a result, more than 2.3 thousand people became victims, another 1.6 residents of the region were forcibly taken to Germany. During this time, the Nazis destroyed and looted houses, schools, enterprises and collective farms. Today, the amount of damage caused is estimated at more than 5 billion rubles. The decision was made in the Supreme Court of the Republic of North Ossetia - Alania, where the regional prosecutor's office appealed on behalf of the head of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov.
