Multimedia Art Museum will host five exhibitions simultaneously

The Multimedia Art Museum opens five exhibitions at once, and all of them are united by the theme of the relationship between the artist and the collector. Thus, the exposition of contemporary art from the collection of Anton Kozlov illustrates the change of trends from the 70s of the last century to the present day. Details from Julia Kundryukova. The seven floors of the Multimedia Art Museum were dedicated to those who are usually behind the big names in the art world. They are the ones closest to the artists. The choice of a collector is what shapes the history of art. “The collector gives attention to the works and the artist. It helps the artist to believe and pass through what is called creative doubts, dead ends. Because creativity is never easy. I came in the morning, from nine to seven at work, I'm shooting. Nope! This is a very complex and psychologically costly process, where it is necessary to support the artist, says Olga Sviblova, director of the Multimedia Art Museum. Anton Kozlov has been collecting contemporary art for six years. "The arrangement of paintings depends on taste." This is the name of the exhibition made up of his collection. It is also called the work of Sergei Volkov. The exhibition covers the history of two major trends: post-war abstraction, beginning in 1956, and Moscow conceptualism. There are works by Viktor Pivovarov, for example, “The Long Neck”. A rare painting by Eduard Steinberg called “Composition”, which shows the continuation of the traditions of Suprematism. Yuri Zlotnikov’s signal system is an abstraction. "Cards" conceptualist Lev Rubinstein. There are also works by artists of a new generation. Artists from the group "MishMash" in 2017 came up with a new direction "Hideoism" from the English words "hidden" and "disgusting". They explore the ability of objects to change. On the canvases, images are balanced on the verge of recognition and abstraction. From afar, quite recognizable landscapes, but near a lot of details. Unusual materials in the form of tape, for example, which seem to contaminate the canvas, thereby showing the underside of the phenomena. There is abstraction, conceptualism, and, of course, a new word from contemporaries. “It is an art that is created in a different generation, in a different context. But it certainly takes into account two important phenomena: the history of abstraction and the history of Moscow conceptualism, which are layered as a common base, says collector Anton Kozlov. Another exhibition "Non-parade portrait" by Natalia Turnova. In the focus of her attention are human passions: love, anger, pain and fear. All the characters' faces close-up. And this is understandable, says the artist, when we are interested in a person, we look at his face. “The most interesting view of man is that of man. There is salvation in this, the moment of existence. And if you have no one to look at, then why do you live, explains the artist Natalia Turnova. The works of two photographers – Grisha Selsky and Ivan Mikhailov – were combined in one hall. Both authors explore the phenomenon of the forgotten. Grisha Selsky recalls the recently sensational Pokémon search game, sometimes life-threatening. That’s in the past, but the game itself hasn’t gone away. And it's time to think about it calmly. What this installation calls for. Ivan Mikhailov has been photographing the Volga at different times of the year for 10 years. At the exhibition "Space of Silence" works he did in the winter, when no one is on the beaches, and you can just listen to the silence.
