Test drive under the constellation of the Big Bear. The Arctic bus, manufactured in the Southern Urals, joined the expedition of the Ministry of Emergency Situations "Safe Arctic". As part of the trip, a column of 20 units of special equipment passed through 10 districts of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

Minus 40 degrees, storm wind and limited visibility. Dispatchers would say with one voice that the weather, to put it mildly, is not flying. However, the yellow bus from the Urals proudly leads the column of special vehicles. Such weather conditions are flowers for him. “All units may operate at temperatures between -55 and -60C. Moreover, we are already using components and assemblies for the Arktika family on the main production machines, says Pavel Yakovlev, General Director of AZ Ural. This yellow heavyweight has been designed for years. Together with machine builders, designers from SUSU and the Baumen Institute helped create the best version of the Arctic bus. As a result, a half-turn starter, an electric starter, a unique suspension and shorokoprofile tires weighing 200 kilograms. “The track of tracked vehicles in the north has been recovering in the tundra for about 30 years. And this wheeled equipment gives low pressure, that is, does not damage the soil, says Arkady Maltsev, chief designer of the Arctic Bus project. Despite the brutal appearance, the inside of the Arctic bus is warm and homely. To do this, the designers reduced the glazing area, and the insulation of the cabin increased. This greatly impressed the participants of the Arctic expedition. “The most important thing is noted precisely, and I heard that, I communicated with the participants. This is comfort, internal comfort regardless of weather conditions, says Pavel Yakovlev, General Director of AZ Ural. This year, the Arctic bus is on stream. Specialists can produce up to 200 giants per year. After the expedition, the plant is waiting for new proposals and is ready to deliver the Arctic to any point of the North Pole.
