The state Duma has prepared 3 bills to strengthen control over foreign agents

It is proposed to expand the list of persons-foreign agents and include those who facilitate the implementation of decisions of international organizations in which Russia does not participate. This includes, for example, the International Criminal Court. Secondly, add to the list those who help foreign government agencies in activities against the Russian Federation, and those who involve Russians in collecting information in the field of military-technical activities. “We have prepared 3 legislative initiatives aimed at improving control over the activities of foreign agents,” Volodin said. In addition, the State Duma proposed to consider without the participation of the defendant criminal cases against foreign agents and those who escaped from Russia, on a number of crimes. These include public calls for terrorism, extremism and territorial integrity, the spread of fakes about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the destruction or damage of military graves and monuments, and the rehabilitation of Nazism. The Parliament also proposed to establish criminal liability for up to five years with the confiscation of property for certain crimes for selfish motives or for hire. These include discrediting the Russian Armed Forces and calling for anti-Russian sanctions. In addition, they propose to punish imprisonment of up to seven years with confiscation of property for calls for sanctions against Russia. “Those who betrayed our country should not be able to evade justice and responsibility, even from outside its borders,” Volodin said. In Russia in March came into force the law on the transfer of ruble funds of foreign agents to special accounts, to receive money from which they can only after the removal of their status.
