The reason for weight gain during the diet lies in the hormonal reactions of the body, especially during fasting. After a few days of drastic calorie restriction, the body begins to retain water. On the scales, not excess fat mass can be displayed, but as much as five liters of water, since insulin triggers the process of fluid accumulation, which leads to edema. In addition, after a sharp restriction of calories, hormones that regulate appetite and energy expenditure are activated. One system increases appetite, the other reduces energy consumption, which slows down metabolism. As a result, the body begins to spend fewer calories even at rest - instead of the usual 20 calories per kilogram of body weight, there are only 15. When a person returns to a normal diet after a strict diet, his metabolism is slowed down and the body continues to accumulate water, which often leads to weight gain. Butchers are advised to stick to a diet with a minimum calorie of 800 calories, but for sustainable results it is better to focus on 1200 calories. Weight loss should be gradual – up to 5% of initial body weight over three months. Rapid weight loss can lead to swelling and deterioration of the skin. For healthy weight loss, it is best to use a balanced diet and regular physical activity, avoiding extremes. Who really needs to be tested for vitamin deficiency, and when is it a waste of money?
