So, pregnant women should not eat raw or undercooked meat, fish and eggs, as they may contain bacteria (for example, salmonella, listeria) and parasites (for example, toxoplasma). The diseases they provoke can lead to miscarriage. Listeria can also be found in soft cheeses and unpasteurized milk. Their expert also advises avoiding them. Some types of fish with high mercury content should be abandoned: sharks, swordfish, king mackerel, tuna (especially steaks) - in favor of salmon, cod, pollock, sardines, and canned tuna should be consumed in an amount of no more than 170 g per week. This is due to the fact that mercury can negatively affect the development of the nervous system of the child. Under the ban also alcohol, raw sprouts – they can be salmonella and E. coli – and a large amount of coffee. The latter is recommended to limit to one cup per day. “Proper nutrition during pregnancy is an investment in the health of the unborn child and the well-being of the mother. It directly affects the formation of organs and systems of the fetus, as well as the course of pregnancy and childbirth, the expert advised to choose whole, unprocessed foods rich in nutrients, and if in doubt consult a doctor.
